OCMC News - Pray. Reflect. Give. Make an Impact This Thanksgiving!
Help transform the lives of more people like the children in Albania who call the Home of Hope home with a gift is support of Orthodox Missions this Thanksgiving!

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ!

It is Thanksgiving!

Leaves are dropping from the trees, and Christmas music is beginning to be heard! Likewise, 2019 is coming to an end, but anticipation for the Nativity Feast is growing! During this season, I humbly ask you for 3 things:

  1. Heartfelt prayers for all the people who were transformed, both at home and abroad, through the Church’s mission ministries.
  2. Grateful reflection on the Light and Truth that was made manifest through the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
  3. A sacrificial offering that will help the Orthodox Christian Mission Center do even more in 2020 to share this Light and Truth with the world!

The transformation experienced by people through OCMC’s ministries is REAL!

From their home parish of St. Mark’s in Boca Raton, FL, Kristina and Juliana had grown up being exposed to missions. Their parish has been instrumental in sharing the Orthodox Faith around the world for many years. Young people like Kristina and Juliana visit the Mission Center annually to learn about the Church’s ministries.

This year, it was their turn.

They took part in an OCMC short-term Mission Team that served at the Children’s Home of Hope in Albania. Just imagine all the opportunities they had for spiritual growth on this journey. Just imagine the impact this experience will have on their lives as Orthodox Christians going forward.

Kristina and Juliana weren’t the only ones impacted by this experience. The children living at the Home of Hope in Shen Vlash, Albania, are there because their families cannot care for them. The Home of Hope ensures that these children are kept safe, loved, fed, and educated.

Every year the Home of Hope welcomes an OCMC Mission Team from the United States to spend time with the children who live there. This year, Kristina, Juliana, and the other team members offered Bible studies, discussion groups, English classes, art, music, and games. They even made excursions to Shtati Rinise (Youth Village) beach, swam at a beautiful swimming pool at a tropical resort, and traveled to Tirana for the ordination of Fr. Emanuel Lapanxa, who will be their full-time priest at the Shen Vlash Monastery.

Glory to God for all that happened in Albania when the team visited! And, thank you for your prayers and donations that made it all possible.

This Thanksgiving, will you please consider a prayerful gift to the OCMC so that even more of this will happen in 2020?

You will transform the lives of the faithful here in the United States and countless people around the world!

In Christ,

Fr. Martin Ritsi
Executive Director

PS – We here at the Mission Center cannot thank you enough for your enduring support of Orthodox Missions. No gift is greater than the gift of the Orthodox Christian Faith. I would like to personally invite you to remember the Church’s call to offer this gift to the world in your estate planning. Including OCMC in your will and/or as a beneficiary in your life insurance policy can ensure that the gift of the Faith is shared for generations to come!

Prayer for Missions

God of truth and love: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Hear our prayer for those who do not know You. That they may come to a saving knowledge of the truth, and that Your Name may be praised among all peoples of the world. Sustain, inspire, and enlighten Your servants who bring them the Gospel. Bring fresh vigor to wavering faith; sustain our faith when it is still fragile. Continually renew missionary zeal in ourselves and in the Church, and raise up new missionaries who will follow You to the ends of the world. Make us witnesses to Your goodness full of love, full of strength, and full of faith for Your glory and the salvation of the entire world. Through the prayers of all the missionary saints, Have mercy on us and save us. Amen.
