OCMC News - New Opportunities for the Moore Family

OCMC News - New Opportunities for the Moore Family
OCMC Missionaries Chris and Jen Moore have returned from Mongolia so that Chris can attend seminary at St. Vlad's. Thankfully, the small study group that they helped establish, and that met regularly in their home, will continued by OCMC Missionary Kurt Bringerud.

So much has happened with our family in the last few weeks! Thank you so much for your prayers, especially during the recent visit of OCMC’s Executive Director, Fr. Martin Ritsi, to Mongolia. We had many meetings and discussions thoroughly examining this mission field and our hopes, as well as discernment of our next steps in ministry. Over the days we spent together, we considered Chris’s growing desire to pursue future theological studies and began to wonder, “Could the time possibly be now?” We prayed for God to open and close the doors needed to direct our future. We communicated with trusted guides and friends, fellow missionaries, and staff from St. Vladimir’s Seminary as we continued to seek God’s will in prayer. We believe God spoke clearly through the events that unfolded. With a month until orientation, we were blessed by His Grace Bishop Paul to start seminary this fall. We have been accepted and have returned to the United States to begin the Fall semester at St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary.

As we continue to seek God's guidance for each next step, we’ve found affirmation of things that are deep in our hearts:

  • We still have a strong desire to pursue our own salvation and God’s work through missionary service.
  • We are continuing our relationship with OCMC. They have recommended this step, and we are in the process of discussing what support will be available through them to us during this time. Soon we will be able to provide more information about how you can support us through seminary.
  • We have a stronger desire than ever to be in Mongolia! For now, God has opened doors for Chris to study to even better prepare himself for ongoing missionary service. It is our prayer that, upon completion of seminary, we will have the opportunity to continue our ministry in Mongolia.

During our time in Mongolia we would welcome a small group of Mongolians into our home weekly to learn about the Faith. Please pray that they will continue meeting and coming closer to Christ. OCMC Missionary Kurt Bringerud will continue to serve in Mongolia with his family and will be assuming leadership of the group. We are grateful for his presence here, as well as his experience in the Church and scriptural insights he provides to others.

We are so grateful to you, who remember us before the Lord. We remember you as well and are always happy to hear from you, to be mutually encouraged, and to remember your life and requests before our Lord.

Prayer for Missions

God of truth and love: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Hear our prayer for those who do not know You. That they may come to a saving knowledge of the truth, and that Your Name may be praised among all peoples of the world. Sustain, inspire, and enlighten Your servants who bring them the Gospel. Bring fresh vigor to wavering faith; sustain our faith when it is still fragile. Continually renew missionary zeal in ourselves and in the Church, and raise up new missionaries who will follow You to the ends of the world. Make us witnesses to Your goodness full of love, full of strength, and full of faith for Your glory and the salvation of the entire world. Through the prayers of all the missionary saints, Have mercy on us and save us. Amen.
