OCMC News - Spring, Summer, Fall... And Winter in Mongolia!

OCMC News - Spring, Summer, Fall... And Winter in Mongolia!
OCMC Missionaries Chris and Jen Moore with Mongolian students and teachers on a trip to Terelj. The Moores have had a busy teaching schedule this past semester. They plan on returning to the United States later this year as they prepare to welcome their second child!

We have wrapped up a busy semester with our university and high school teaching commitments. Most of the Korean students in the high school where Jen has been working are graduating and moving on to universities in Korea or in the U.S. It was a blessing to get to know this reflective, motivated, and caring group of seniors! She will continue to work with a small group of incoming seniors this fall, in addition to teaching two university classes in the English Education department of the university.

Right now we're getting "summer snow" in Ulaanbaatar (there are cottonwood trees everywhere)! Now that school's out we have a lot more flex time and are hoping to spend the summer boosting our language study and developing relationships. We'd like to get together with many different people from our church and with Mongolian families and singles that we've become acquainted with in different settings. And now that it's warmer, we'd like to get Andrew out to play at the playground just outside of our apartment in hopes to get to know some of our neighbors. Please pray that we can take good advantage of this extra time for God's glory. Also, Fr. Martin Ritsi, OCMC's Executive Director, will be visiting in less than a month! We're excited for the chance to share our lives and work with him and think about the future.

We're making a change in our work plans for this fall. Jen is going to continue teaching and will have 2 classes at the college level and one class with high school students. Chris is going to switch to a spouse visa and not teach at MIU. Our communications, family time, and mission hopes/plans were put on hold a lot this past semester, and we feel we need to cut back a bit on the teaching workload through MIU. In addition to being able to focus on mission plans within the church, Chris will also be able to invest more in the connections he’s making in the music world.

Finally, we have a big life change coming up this winter. We rejoice to report that Baby Two is on the way with a due date of January 11! Because of some complications surrounding Andrew’s birth, we are planning to have the birth in the States and will be coming home early December to prepare. Jen is taking the spring semester off, and we’ll be avoiding coming back to Mongolia in the coldest time of the year when the air quality is poorest. We’re currently planning our return for early to mid-spring. While we’re in the States, though we will be busy with all the adjustments of the new baby, we’re also hoping to touch base with many of you and your parishes. Please be in touch with us if you’d like to arrange a visit, a report from the field, or a presentation to your church or group. We’re excited to have the opportunity to see you during this time!

Prayer for Missions

God of truth and love: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Hear our prayer for those who do not know You. That they may come to a saving knowledge of the truth, and that Your Name may be praised among all peoples of the world. Sustain, inspire, and enlighten Your servants who bring them the Gospel. Bring fresh vigor to wavering faith; sustain our faith when it is still fragile. Continually renew missionary zeal in ourselves and in the Church, and raise up new missionaries who will follow You to the ends of the world. Make us witnesses to Your goodness full of love, full of strength, and full of faith for Your glory and the salvation of the entire world. Through the prayers of all the missionary saints, Have mercy on us and save us. Amen.
