Strengthening the Future of Orthodoxy in Africa

The Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC) supports theological education and training around the world as a way of building up the Body of Christ and ministering to the whole person. Over the years, OCMC missionaries have taught at seminaries in Kenya, Tanzania, Albania, Alaska, Romania, southeast Asia, and Uganda.

Through the generosity of its donors, OCMC is currently funding the construction of seminaries in Cameroon and Guatemala, supporting their monthly operations. OCMC is also funding an income generation project to support the seminary in Kenya, where dozens of seminarians and catechists are in training to one day become Orthodox priests or ministry leaders in parishes.

In Cameroon, OCMC has committed to helping fund the construction of the Dormition of the Mother of God Mission Center. When complete, it will feature classrooms and housing for the first permanent site for an Orthodox theological school in the country, which is vital to the growth of the Church.

On the grounds of the Makarios III Patriarchal Seminary in Nairobi, Kenya (which has graduated hundreds of students since its founding in the mid-1980’s) OCMC is providing funding for construction of student housing which will generate income to support the seminary. The building will eventually house students who attend a neighboring technical college. Through this collaboration, a stream of continuous income will be provided to the seminary so that it may continue training priests and catechists to serve in Kenya and throughout Africa.
