OCMC Board Embraces Vision for Coming Year

2023 Spring Board Meeting

The Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC) Board of Directors held its second meeting of the 2022-23 fiscal year May 11-13 at St. Katherine Orthodox Church in Falls Church, VA to review this year’s progress and set priorities for the coming year. At the conclusion of the meeting, a benefit dinner was held and featured remarks by His Eminence Archbishop ELPIDOPHOROS of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.

“OCMC is blessed to have a Board that brings thoughtfulness and tremendous enthusiasm to its work each time we meet,” said Executive Director, Fr. Martin Ritsi. “Our discussions are forward-thinking, which keeps OCMC, our missionaries, and staff focused on making disciples of all nations as the Great Commission commands us.”

  • Adoption of the Strategic Plan for the 2023-2024 fiscal year.
  • Presenting the vision for the Missionary department, by new Missionary Director, Fr. Rob Spaliatsos, that focuses on: strategic recruitment efforts of new missionaries; improved processes of moving candidates from recruitment to field placement; implementation of the revised mission teams program; and hiring of a new missionary recruitment officer.
  • Report on the nearly $1 million distributed year-to-date by OCMC through grants and projects run by missionaries and local church partners to help develop the local Church and a presentation of the vision of how to further refine the processes of soliciting, awarding, stewarding, and overseeing such projects as new proposals are considered for the coming year.
  • Adopting a budget of $6 million for fiscal year 2023-24.

As Archbishop ELPIDOPHOROS said, ‘the commandment to preach the Gospel to all nations has never changed in two thousand years,’” concluded Fr. Ritsi. “OCMC, through the adoption of our new strategic plan, budget, and other new or revitalized activities discussed, will continue to fulfill this commandment in the coming year.”
