OCMC News - Share the Good Tidings of Great Joy this Nativity Season
Support the work of Orthodox missions in places like Albania with a gift to the OCMC this Nativity season!

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

During the joyous Feast of the Nativity, we celebrate the arrival of Jesus Christ, bringing God’s life-saving truth to His children. Today I write to share with you a story from the OCMC missionaries who are working to share the glad tidings of the coming of Christ with the people of Albania. Every day, these devoted servants reach out with the love of Christ to offer the gift of Faith to the Albanian people whom they have been called to serve.

A powerful example of this living witness to Orthodox Christianity can be seen in the neighborhoods in and around Albania’s capital city of Tirana. There, OCMC missionaries Nathan and Gabriela Hoppe, along with their Albanian partners in the Church’s Central Children’s Office, are coordinating after-school programs for local children. Though many of the children who are served by this ministry are not Christian, they are introduced to the Faith through lessons and activities that encourage a Christian way of life.

The Nativity season is a great opportunity for these children to be exposed to the truth of the Gospel. Through crafts and fellowship, they will learn how Christ came into the world to bring hope and salvation to people who are in need of His message.

This year, OCMC will invest close to $150,000 to train and support several long-term missionaries and two short-term mission teams that will serve our brothers and sisters in Albania. There are currently three missionary families serving in Albania, and we pray that we will be able to announce the arrival of three additional missionary families within the coming year. Your prayers and financial support allow OCMC to prepare and equip these families so that they too will be able to bring “good tidings of great joy” to a nation where most people still do not celebrate the Nativity of our Lord.

Please prayerfully consider being a part of the life-saving work of Orthodox Christian missions through a gift to the OCMC to support the continued growth of the ministries in Albania this Nativity season.

Thank you for considering this gift, and we pray that you have a beautiful and blessed Nativity!

In Christ,

Fr. Martin Ritsi
Executive Director

Prayer for Missions

God of truth and love: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Hear our prayer for those who do not know You. That they may come to a saving knowledge of the truth, and that Your Name may be praised among all peoples of the world. Sustain, inspire, and enlighten Your servants who bring them the Gospel. Bring fresh vigor to wavering faith; sustain our faith when it is still fragile. Continually renew missionary zeal in ourselves and in the Church, and raise up new missionaries who will follow You to the ends of the world. Make us witnesses to Your goodness full of love, full of strength, and full of faith for Your glory and the salvation of the entire world. Through the prayers of all the missionary saints, Have mercy on us and save us. Amen.
