Dear Ambassadors,

Christ is Risen!

Thank you for answering Christ’s call to ‘make disciples of all nations’ through your service as an Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC) Ambassador! It is our prayer that this 2010 OCMC Ambassador Idea Guide provides you with both a deeper understanding of Orthodox missions and that it presents you with the tools you'll need to be a missions resource for the faithful of your community.

This guide is only the beginning! It will grow every year as you find new and creative ways to build missions awareness in your parish and as we all come to a deeper understanding of Chirst's great commission. Throughout the year, you will hear from us and we hope that you will be able to share photos, stories, and information as to how your community's mission ministry is growing!

We ask that you please take time to read through this guide. Consider some of the ideas it presents, and sit with your parish priest to discuss some of the opportunities that exist in your parish for engaging your Orthodox brothers and sisters in missions. One opportunity this year is the 2010 Walk for Missions that will raise awareness and support for the OCMC ministries that will offer a Christian witness to the Turkana of northern Kenya. You will find information about this walk (and other opportunities) in the back of this guide. We hope that you will consider participating in this fun activity on behalf of the Turkana people!

Attached to the guide is a 2010 Activity Form. After reading through this guide, consult with your parish priest and commit to one activity that will raise awareness and financial support for the mission ministries of our Orthodox Church. Please complete and return the Activity Form detailing your event(s) to the OCMC in the enclosed envelope by May 31, 2010. Prayer for Missions

God of truth and love: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Hear our prayer for those who do not know You. That they may come to a saving knowledge of the truth, and that Your Name may be praised among all peoples of the world. Sustain, inspire, and enlighten Your servants who bring them the Gospel. Bring fresh vigor to wavering faith; sustain our faith when it is still fragile. Continually renew missionary zeal in ourselves and in the Church, and raise up new missionaries who will follow You to the ends of the world. Make us witnesses to Your goodness full of love, full of strength, and full of faith for Your glory and the salvation of the entire world. Through the prayers of all the missionary saints, Have mercy on us and save us. Amen.
