OCMC News - OCMC to Dedicate New Florida Building May 21
Begun in 2006, the new Missionary Training and Administration Building is the first building built for a pan-Orthodox ministry of the Standing Conference of Canonical Bishops in the Americas (SCOBA). Located in historic St. Augustine, Florida, the new 12,000 square foot Missionary Training & Administrative Support Center will help Orthodox Christians from North America answer their call to make disciples of all nations.

St. Augustine, FL - The Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC), the foreign mission and evangelism agency of the Standing Conference of Canonical Orthodox Bishops in the Americas(SCOBA), will dedicate its new Archbishop Anastasios and Archbishop Demetrios Missionary Training and Administration Building on Thursday, May 21, 2009.

The two honorees, His Beatitude Anastasios, Archbishop of Tirana, Durres, and All Albania and His Eminence Demetrios, Archbishop of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and Chairman of SCOBA, will lead the ceremonies. They will be joined by the hierarchs of SCOBA representing all of the Orthodox jurisdictions in America, the Board of Directors and Staff of OCMC, Missionaries and Mission Team members, benefactors and donors to the successful capital campaign which provided funding for the project, and Orthodox clergy and laity from throughout the country.

Located on a wooded twenty-acre site near Interstate 95, the 12,000 square foot facility is the first permanent building designed, constructed, owned and operated by a SCOBA agency. It includes space for worship, training and meeting rooms, overnight accommodations for visiting Missionaries and Mission Team members, a kitchen, and administrative offices and work areas. State of the art information technology infrastructure is installed throughout to support communications with OCMC’s Missionaries around the world.

The OCMC Board of Directors cordially invites all Orthodox in America to be a part of this historic occasion, either by participating in the dedication events or offering greetings in the commemorative album. For more information and/or to participate in some way, please see the OCMC web site at www.ocmc.org or e-mail missions@ocmc.org or call 1-877-GO-FORTH .

Prayer for Missions

God of truth and love: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Hear our prayer for those who do not know You. That they may come to a saving knowledge of the truth, and that Your Name may be praised among all peoples of the world. Sustain, inspire, and enlighten Your servants who bring them the Gospel. Bring fresh vigor to wavering faith; sustain our faith when it is still fragile. Continually renew missionary zeal in ourselves and in the Church, and raise up new missionaries who will follow You to the ends of the world. Make us witnesses to Your goodness full of love, full of strength, and full of faith for Your glory and the salvation of the entire world. Through the prayers of all the missionary saints, Have mercy on us and save us. Amen.
