This past Saturday, June 22, 2019, we were blessed to celebrate the enthronement of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. Our Executive Director, Fr. Martin Ritsi, represented OCMC at the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in New York City on Sunday.

In his enthronement address, Archbishop Elpidophoros observed that his commission had taken place on May 11th - the feast of Saints Cyril and Methodios, Apostles to the Slavs. He made a beautiful connection between their life work and the principle commitment of the Patriarchate of Constantinople to an ecumenical worldview and mission. He also recalled learning the importance of building bridges and creating relationships from His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. “Such connections are precisely what the church is all about,” he reflected.

Indeed, the sentiments of Archbishop Elpidophoros’ enthronement address are not only what the Church is all about, but also more specifically, what OCMC is all about. For this, it was especially a great blessing for us to have Fr. Martin participate in his enthronement. We look forward to all that Archbishop Elpidophoros will bring to the Church, our continued prayers are with him, and we are very excited to support him and work with him in his ministries and endeavors.

Axios! He is worthy!

Prayer for Missions

God of truth and love: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Hear our prayer for those who do not know You. That they may come to a saving knowledge of the truth, and that Your Name may be praised among all peoples of the world. Sustain, inspire, and enlighten Your servants who bring them the Gospel. Bring fresh vigor to wavering faith; sustain our faith when it is still fragile. Continually renew missionary zeal in ourselves and in the Church, and raise up new missionaries who will follow You to the ends of the world. Make us witnesses to Your goodness full of love, full of strength, and full of faith for Your glory and the salvation of the entire world. Through the prayers of all the missionary saints, Have mercy on us and save us. Amen.
