OCMC News - Help Support the Theological Training of Priests in the Mission Field!
Through your support of OCMC's theological training ministries priests like the ones seen here from Nigeria can help grow the Church and share the Faith around the world. Your donation will help underwrite the work of missionaries, teams, and theological training programs that are working to raise up new church leadership.

Dear Brothers and Sisters In Christ,

For a young man like Fr. James Igetei from Nigeria, a theological education can transform his life, the life of his family, and the lives of the people he serves. With this vital training, men like Fr. James often establish and serve more than one Orthodox parish!

For 2000 years, the Church has kept the Holy Traditions of the Orthodox Faith as a precious treasure. Like the good servants in the parable of the talents, the Church has multiplied this treasure by passing these Holy Traditions on to generations of priests and leaders who have then passed them along to the growing body of believers.

Theological training is a foundation of Orthodox Christian missions as a way to spread the Truth of the Faith to the four corners of the earth. We need your help to provide greater access to this vital teaching!

Presently, there are 7 OCMC missionaries who offer theological training as a major focus of their ministry work, several short-term mission teams each year that offer catechetical training, and theological institutions operating in 3 of the mission fields where OCMC is presently active. OCMC has also helped cover the expenses of students from the mission field to attend seminaries in the United States and to pursue certification through the St. Stephen’s Program of the Antiochian House of Studies. Theological Training constitutes a major aspect of the Mission Center’s efforts around the world, and it needs your support!

With a gift of $75, $100, or $150, you can support these missionaries, send these teams, underwrite these institutions, and, more importantly, train more people like Fr. James!

There are some amazing benefits to providing theological training to indigenous clergy and church leaders beyond deepening their own understanding of the Orthodox Faith. As is the case with Fr. James, they share these teachings with, and establish ministries amongst, their local communities - but they do so in a culturally appropriate way! Your support of theological training makes this possible as well.

Providing greater access to theological training is vital to the spread of Orthodox Christianity around the world. Thank you for your prayerful support of this ministry. We pray that your gift ultimately paves the way for the ordination of more Orthodox clergy and the establishment of more Orthodox churches around the world.

Sincerely in Christ,

Fr. Martin Ritsi
Executive Director

Prayer for Missions

God of truth and love: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Hear our prayer for those who do not know You. That they may come to a saving knowledge of the truth, and that Your Name may be praised among all peoples of the world. Sustain, inspire, and enlighten Your servants who bring them the Gospel. Bring fresh vigor to wavering faith; sustain our faith when it is still fragile. Continually renew missionary zeal in ourselves and in the Church, and raise up new missionaries who will follow You to the ends of the world. Make us witnesses to Your goodness full of love, full of strength, and full of faith for Your glory and the salvation of the entire world. Through the prayers of all the missionary saints, Have mercy on us and save us. Amen.
