OCMC News - See What You Made Possible in OCMC Latest Annual Report!
OCMC Missionary Jennifer Rice processes with her new friends in Guatemala on the Sunday of Orthodoxy. OCMC’s 2017 Annual Report is now available online! See all that you made possible in the past year.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ!

Last year saw thousands of lives around the world transformed through the missionary efforts of the Orthodox Christian Mission Center working through the Church. It is inspiring to reflect on how the dozens of missionaries, hundreds of team members, thousands of donors, and countless partners in prayer, came together as one Body to love others for the glory of God. It is a joy to share with you just some of what you made possible through the Orthodox Christian Mission Center in this annual report.

In this report, you’ll read about mission ministries in Albania, Guatemala, and Kenya. But, these are just three of more than 25 countries in which you have had an impact. We are glad to share with you statistics and figures that we hope communicate the breadth and depth of that impact, but each of these statistics has a life attached to it.

In Indonesia, for example, a team was able to teach about the Faith to more than 450 people. Reflecting about the experience, one of the team members shared, “I was sitting next to a girl who liked my lesson about how we treat others who are not Orthodox, and she began to cry.” In a country where Christians are often marginalized, the team’s message of love and tolerance gave them strength and spoke to the hope that the acceptance they are called to offer others will one day be shown to them as well.

In Uganda, another team helped to build a school for the people of a small village called Bulera. Often times team members would play kick ball with the children from the village. One team member recalls fondly, “On the last day, we were able to see all of the progress we had made and were in awe of our work. This was also a special day because we were able to make palm crosses for the children, and they were excited to show their families these little treasures.” Even simple things like playing kick ball and the gifts of small palm crosses can create bonds of fellowship that last a lifetime.

On behalf of the thousands of people that were reached, I would like to thank you. They will never forget what you made possible. Please don’t forget them either. Continue to remember them in your prayers, and join in continuing and growing the Church’s global mission to make disciples of all nations.

PS – In this year’s Annual Report, we are mentioning each and every donor who supported Orthodox missions in 2017. We do this so that you can see that you are truly part of a movement and to recognize the sacrifices that have been made to share the Gospel.

Prayer for Missions

God of truth and love: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Hear our prayer for those who do not know You. That they may come to a saving knowledge of the truth, and that Your Name may be praised among all peoples of the world. Sustain, inspire, and enlighten Your servants who bring them the Gospel. Bring fresh vigor to wavering faith; sustain our faith when it is still fragile. Continually renew missionary zeal in ourselves and in the Church, and raise up new missionaries who will follow You to the ends of the world. Make us witnesses to Your goodness full of love, full of strength, and full of faith for Your glory and the salvation of the entire world. Through the prayers of all the missionary saints, Have mercy on us and save us. Amen.
