2017 Albania Outreach Team

Traveling From: 5/22/2017 to 6/2/2017; Team Cost: $1000*

TIRANA, ALBANIA -- Earn credit hours and study Orthodox Christian missiology under the supervision of Fr. Luke Veronis, adjunct professor of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Brookline, MA. This class consists of two parts; coursework offered through Holy Cross/Hellenic College and a mission practicum that will be held in Albania. This summer class combines an academic element with a missions experience, together with a spiritual pilgrimage.

Course Description
The Missiology of Archbishop Anastasios of mission class and practicum to Albania is a 3 credit class that will study the life, missiology and writings of Archbishop Anastasios (Yannoulatos) of Albania and examine how he has lived this missiology through his ministry in the Church of Albania. The course will look at the foundation and calling of missions, study the resurrection of the Church of Albania over the past 25 years, examine and analyze how the church has succeeded in living out the missiology of the Archbishop.

Mission practicum: Visit Albania and witness the resurrection of the Church; meet with Archbishop Anastasios and/or co-workers including OCMC missionaries and Church leaders; visit the Theological Academy at Shen Vlash; and participate in outreach and evangelism programs within the country.

Course Requirements:

  • In-class time (pre-trip classes, classes while in Albania, and follow-up upon return to the States)
  • Mission practicum
  • Response papers on the required readings
  • Reflection while in the field
  • Final Paper

Over twenty years have passed since the collapse of Communism in Albania and the Church continues to be a witness of the peace and salvation that comes from knowing Christ. Cost: $1000.00

Travel – Team members must fly on the same itinerary to and from the project destination. The Mission Institute will provide an itinerary and make flight arrangements (round-trip) to Tirana, Albania.

Fund raising – Each Team member is responsible for the cost. Team members raise funds to cover the cost of their participation. Participants are encouraged to let others know that they will be sharing in the work of missions through their tax-deductible donations, and invite others to participate through prayer and financial support. The cost includes room and board, transportation, orientation costs, ministry expenses, excursion and materials.
