The Andruchow Family

Serving in Mexico

My journey into the mission field began when I was 25 years old. I grew up as a cradle 0rthodox Christian in the Greek Orthodox Church and was very involved in the life of the church but I never had a personal relationship with God. I felt empty, lacking a reason to live. A dear friend suggested that I say the Lord’s Prayer every day…even though they were just words to me. I did it and then my eyes gradually started to open to God’s presence in my life.

The next Summer I went on an OCMC mission trip to Ghana, Africa. That September I moved to Brookline, Massachusetts to learn more about Orthodoxy at Holy Cross Theological School and ended up graduating with a Master’s degree in Church Service with an emphasis in Youth Ministry. After graduation I worked as a Youth Director for Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Houston, TX and later at St. Katherine’s Church in Redondo Beach, California. During that time I also ministered for a year as a hospital chaplain.

In 1997 I married my amazing husband, Fr. Nicholas Andruchow. Since then the Lord has blessed us three incredible boys, Joshua (21), Luke (19) Elias (16). More than two decades of marriage has given me the experience of St. Vladimir’s seminary while my husband studied to be a priest, ten years at a Greek Orthodox parish in Flagstaff, Arizona and now ten years living at St. Innocent Orphanage. Here Fr. Nicholas serves as the head priest and Associate Director of Project Mexico.

Through this journey my life formed meaning. I cannot imagine it without my relationship with our Lord, Jesus Christ. Through prayer, I feel God’s peace and comfort in a world that is unraveling.

As a missionary for the Lord I provide a motherly presence for the boys at the orphanage, and I coordinate the intern program that allows dozens of young adults every summer to volunteer and lead the homebuilding trips. I also work with my husband to grow Orthodoxy in northern Mexico while helping to promote the ministry throughout the United States. Please consider supporting the work of the Church here in Tijuana either through your prayers, your time or your financial gift. And ultimately may your generosity give glory to God working in the world!

Prayer for Missions

God of truth and love: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Hear our prayer for those who do not know You. That they may come to a saving knowledge of the truth, and that Your Name may be praised among all peoples of the world. Sustain, inspire, and enlighten Your servants who bring them the Gospel. Bring fresh vigor to wavering faith; sustain our faith when it is still fragile. Continually renew missionary zeal in ourselves and in the Church, and raise up new missionaries who will follow You to the ends of the world. Make us witnesses to Your goodness full of love, full of strength, and full of faith for Your glory and the salvation of the entire world. Through the prayers of all the missionary saints, Have mercy on us and save us. Amen.
