Mr. Oliver Fahling

Serving in Mexico

Oliver was raised in Tupelo, Mississippi. The son of Brian and Suzie Fahling, he is the fourth of eight kids - seven boys and one girl. He was received into the Orthodox Church at the age of 12 at St. John’s Orthodox Church in Memphis, TN.

He and his family moved to Seattle, WA when he was 13 and there he attended Inglemoor High School and St. Paul’s Orthodox Church. He first went on a week trip to Mexico when he was 13 with his new parish and went three more times during high school.

At 18 he moved back to Mississippi to attend Mississippi College majoring in International Studies and minoring in Spanish. He played collegiate soccer for four years. He attended Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church in Clinton. He first interned at Project Mexico going into his senior year of college as well as the summer after he graduated. After graduation and his second internship he worked as a Lift Attendant at Schweitzer Mountain in Sandpoint, ID before taking a full-time position at Project Mexico.

On why he has chosen to serve through Project Mexico, Oliver has shared:

“The following is a Psalm that I have heard sung beautifully many times here at Project Mexico: What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me? I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD. – Psalms 116: 12-13

I have been blessed with a large and loving family and wonderful friends both within and outside of the Church. In hearing the Psalm I recall what I have received from God and my hope is to share what I have received with others.”

Prayer for Missions

God of truth and love: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Hear our prayer for those who do not know You. That they may come to a saving knowledge of the truth, and that Your Name may be praised among all peoples of the world. Sustain, inspire, and enlighten Your servants who bring them the Gospel. Bring fresh vigor to wavering faith; sustain our faith when it is still fragile. Continually renew missionary zeal in ourselves and in the Church, and raise up new missionaries who will follow You to the ends of the world. Make us witnesses to Your goodness full of love, full of strength, and full of faith for Your glory and the salvation of the entire world. Through the prayers of all the missionary saints, Have mercy on us and save us. Amen.
