Alaska I – Outreach
Participate on a service project in Eklutna, the oldest continuously inhabited Athabaskan Indian settlement. The Team will assist the St. Nicholas Orthodox community in completing renovations and will also work on general maintenance projects where harsh weather has taken its toll on the church. Family participation is welcome; participants should be in good physical condition and be prepared to share the Orthodox Faith in love and good works.

Alaska II – Teaching
Travel to Old Harbor on Kodiak Island, where the first Saints of North America lived and proclaimed the truth of Orthodoxy, to participate in the annual Family Camp offered to youth and adults. Teach about living the Faith and also help the community with work projects at the end of the camp session. Family participation is welcome; volunteers with a firm grasp of the Orthodox Faith and willingness to work hard are encouraged to apply.

Albania – Youth
Witness the resurrection of the Orthodox Faith in Albania and help administer a summer camp program at a children’s home. Under the supervision of the Albanian staff of the Home of Hope in Shen Vlash, Team members will teach arts and crafts and English lessons as well as lead sports activities for children ages 3-13. There will be opportunities to meet OCMC missionaries and witness other ministries of the Church. Family participation is welcome; background in teaching, youth work or camping is preferred.

Guatemala – Youth
Assist in the daily activities and offer a youth camp program to the children of the Hogar Rafael Ayau Orphanage in Guatemala City. This unique summer camp program offers classroom instruction, arts and crafts, games, sports and excursions. Additionally, participants provide a positive witness and are asked to be exemplary role models for the children. Spanish speakers are encouraged to apply, but Spanish skills are not required.

India – Teaching
Offer catechism and assist the Orthodox Church in India with its ongoing mission outreach. This Teaching Team will work in the village of Monahorpour offering seminars on the fulness of the Orthodox Christian faith to people whose knowledge of Christianity will be limited. Participants with a strong background in Orthodox doctrine – clergy and seminarians - and the ability to teach have been requested.

Kenya – Teaching
Continue building bonds between Orthodox from North America and the first converts to Orthodoxy from the Turkana tribe in Lodwar (considered one of the least evangelized peoples in Kenya). A week-long catechetical training seminar will be offered in this community where a previous OCMC Team built a church. Volunteers with the ability to offer basic catechism are encouraged to apply.

Madagascar – Teaching
Travel to the fourth largest island in the world to assist the Orthodox Church with its ongoing mission outreach. Offer catechism to people from isolated villages where Orthodoxy is spreading despite many obstacles. The Team will conduct catechism and offer presentations to the faithful and theological students. Participants with a sound understanding of the Orthodox Faith and the ability to teach have been requested.

Romania – Youth
Join the Student Association of Orthodox Christians in Romania of the Diocese of Cluj-Napoca in offering a Youth Camp outside of the city of Cluj. Participate in religious education, youth ministry, and English instruction in a camp setting. This program will include Bible studies, sports, arts and crafts, and fellowship. Family participation is welcome; participants with experience in youth ministry and camps are urged to apply.

South Africa – Teaching
Experience the diversity of South Africa and contribute to the ongoing Orthodox witness, ministry, and life of the Archdiocese of Johannesburg and Pretoria by taking part in a Teaching Team. Share the Faith by offering seminars to various mission communities in the archdiocese. Participants should be grounded in the basic teachings of the Church and have the ability to share in small groups.

South Korea – Youth
Participate in youth camps in Chuncheon and Busan. These camps will focus on sharing the Faith while offering English immersion lessons to Orthodox and non-Orthodox youth as a part of the Church’s youth ministry. The camp program will be coordinated by Korean clergy and volunteers and the Mission Team. Experience in working with youth, youth camps and ESL (English as a Second Language) requested.

Tanzania – Teaching
Be a part of a Teaching Team to Bukoba and participate in the annual seminar for church leaders and young adults by offering basic catechism and encouragement to the faithful. Experience the culture and zeal of Orthodox Tanzania, where less than fifty clergy, two hundred catechists, and 50,000 faithful are sharing the life-saving message of salvation. Participants should be well-grounded in the basic teachings of the Church and have the ability to share the Orthodox Faith.

Uganda – Healthcare
Minister to the physical needs of children and adults who have limited access to medical care. Become a part of the holistic healthcare ministry of the Orthodox Church in Uganda by providing medical services in Gulu, northern Uganda. Doctors, pharmacists, nurse practitioners, nurses, dentists, healthcare students, and all medical personnel are urged to participate.

Participant Cost: $1880.00 *
Zimbabwe – Teaching
Support the intense mission efforts of the Church in Zimbabwe, and visit surrounding communities while teaching the Faith to youth and adults with lessons focusing on the universality of the Orthodox Church. Join this small group of clergy and laity whose efforts have brought many to Orthodoxy. An ability to teach the Faith has been requested; teachers and nurses are encouraged to apply.

* Participants are responsible for Travel costs; Airfare to and from location is not included; Team members are encouraged to raise the additional funds to cover the cost of domestic and international travel.

• Create awareness by raising spiritual and financial support.

• Upon returning home, share experiences with family, friends and supporters.
• Pray continuously: before, during and after!
* Team members receive a Mission Team Information Packet which provides guidance on how to prepare for mission service, fundraising, and guidelines for participation.
• Completed Mission Team Application with reference form from an Orthodox Priest.
• An active member of the Church.
• Spiritually mature individual with good social skills, motivated to learn and serve.
• At least 18 years of age, and in good physical health.
o Family teams allow children over 12 years of age with at least one parent participating.
• Able to cover costs of participation and to travel on the scheduled dates.
Team dates, costs, locations and project details are subject to change based on airline schedule, developments in host countries and other unforeseen circumstances.
Participation cost covers expenses while in the field, including transfers from airport, meals, lodging, project expenses, orientation and preparation materials. Airfare to and from Team location and domestic travel to Orientation is not included in the participation cost. Team members must travel on the scheduled dates and are encouraged to raise additional funds to cover the cost of the airfare. Participants receive a fundraising packet with suggestions on ways to raise support and engage potential donors as participants in the work of missions.
