OCMC News - Support the Training of Priests at Orthodox Seminaries Across the Globe
Please prayerfully consider supporting theological training through the OCMC

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

You could hardly imagine two men worse for the job.

But that’s not how God saw things. He chose St. Peter and St. Paul to build His Church and spread it to new places. He knew what He was doing!

Now we celebrate the feast day of these missionary saints who helped build the foundation of our Orthodox Church. I encourage you to honor St. Peter and St. Paul and their missionary work in a special way: By sending a donation today...

Because their work goes on. And it needs your support.

Any amount — in honor of Saints Peter and Paul (June 29) will help continue the work that they began. And you’ll help lead more people into our Holy Orthodox Church.

Saints Peter and Paul are close to my heart. Their example inspires me. Not only because of the scope of what they accomplished...

They remind me how God works. Look at the facts: Peter — he vowed he’d stand with Christ no matter what. But when things got tough, he loudly denied even knowing who Jesus was. Not once, but three times. And Paul! A Pharisee. An active enemy of the tiny new Church. Involved in the murder of St. Stephen, the first Christian martyr.

If you or I had looked at those two résumés, I doubt we’d have seen any reason to give them the job!

But God knows better. God used those two flawed men. Boy did He ever use them! And that tells us he can use me. And you.

God uses ordinary people like you and me to do the most important jobs on Earth!

We’re in this together! You are as much a part of the Church’s mission work as I am, or as Saints Peter and Paul are, or any of our missionaries in the field. Today, in this moment, you can send financial support. And you can pray.

That’s why I feel comfortable asking you for a donation today.

Think of the places your gift will go to work...

In the desert of Kenya, we’re working with pagan tribal people. They’ve never even heard of Jesus Christ or His Church. Yet they are responding. Forming small but growing Orthodox Church communities that meet under the shade of trees.

But they need your help right now. Who will teach people like the Turkana about Christ and His Church? I just visited a seminary in Kenya that trains future priests from all over Africa. But they are running at ½ capacity due to lack of funds. There’s hardly even enough funding to feed the students who are there! The seminary and others like it around the world need our help now!

The work of sharing the Faith must go on. Priests and catechists must be trained. In Guatemala, Indonesia, Alaska, Albania, Kenya, and beyond, people like Saints Peter and Paul must be raised up and sent!

Will you send a gift today? People are waiting to hear the Good News. They’re ready to respond. We just need to follow God’s call and be there.

Your giving makes it possible. Thank you!

Still Building the Church — with YOUR Help,

Fr. Martin Ritsi

Executive Director

P.S. June 29, the Feast day of the Apostles Peter and Paul, is just around the corner. Please honor these Pillars of our Church with a gift to spread the Faith today!

Prayer for Missions

God of truth and love: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Hear our prayer for those who do not know You. That they may come to a saving knowledge of the truth, and that Your Name may be praised among all peoples of the world. Sustain, inspire, and enlighten Your servants who bring them the Gospel. Bring fresh vigor to wavering faith; sustain our faith when it is still fragile. Continually renew missionary zeal in ourselves and in the Church, and raise up new missionaries who will follow You to the ends of the world. Make us witnesses to Your goodness full of love, full of strength, and full of faith for Your glory and the salvation of the entire world. Through the prayers of all the missionary saints, Have mercy on us and save us. Amen.
