e a part of a Teaching Team to Bukoba, Tanzania, and participate in the annual seminar for church leaders and young adults by offering basic catechism, evangelism, and encouragement to the faithful.  Share your faith as part of this teaching and outreach ministry of the Church, and experience the culture and zeal of Orthodox Tanzanians.  Participants should be well-grounded in the basic teachings of the Church and have the ability to share and teach their Orthodox Faith.

The Orthodox Christian Mission Center has been sending Mission Teams to the Metropolis to host camps for young adults throughout the area to teach basic catechism and encourage young Orthodox leaders since 2004.  The 2010 Tanzania Orthodox Mission Team has been invited to teach at the annual seminar. The Team will participate in evangelism and catechism seminars for young adults, church school teachers, and leaders.  Those who attend the seminars will come from different parts of the Metropolis and will take what they learn back to their home communities.  This will encourage many others around the Metropolis and help spread the good work that the Team has started.  In addition to teaching, the Team will visit and be a witness to other communities within the Metropolis.

Tanzania is a country with over 30 million people; half the population practice Islam or animism.  Orthodoxy came to Tanzania in the 1960s.  In 1983 the first Orthodox Tanzanian priest was ordained.  As Orthodox Christianity continues to spread throughout East Africa, the Metropolis of Mwanza in Tanzania shines as one of the fastest growing and more developed Metropolises. Under the pastoral leadership of His Eminence Metropolitan Jeronymos, the church’s responsibility of evangelism has been shared by both clergy and laity. Today, this mission diocese consists of more than 40,000 faithful in over 150 parishes, served by 31 priests and a catechist in each community.

Share your faith as part of this outreach Team and be a witness of Orthodoxy.  Experience the zeal and excitement of the Church in Tanzania which is growing with great intensity and fervor!
