A ll Orthodox Christians seeking an opportunity to be witnesses of the Holy Orthodox Faith in action and to fulfill the mandate of our Lord Jesus Christ are invited and needed to participate on Orthodox Mission Teams.
Team members are part of a team effort to minister to the needs of the Orthodox community that they are assisting. Participants are expected to work towards accomplishing the Team goals:- Presenting a visible expression of the love, unity, and support that truly exists within the Holy Orthodox Church around the world.
- Sharing the teachings of the Orthodox Faith and to provide needy Orthodox communities around the globe with labor.
- Increasing awareness of the Church’s unending mission efforts.
Team members will be challenged to view the world with God's eyes and actively seek how He wants to use them to fulfill His plans. The overall cross-cultural experience, combined with outreach, will offer Team members a life-changing learning experience. The Team experience is about people, culture and missions, through hands-on experience. It is also about prayer, learning and service. While establishing bonds of love, support, mutual learning, and making a difference in someone’s life, Team members participate in fulfilling the Great Commission by helping make disciples. Mission Teams touch and share the daily lives of Orthodox brothers and sisters by bridging the distance between Orthodox Christians around the world. Upon selection, pre-field training includes the Mission Team Information Packet, educational material, and Team orientation. Orientation incorporates spiritual preparation, practical cross-cultural training and team-building experiences. Members meet for orientation prior to departure. Participants are encouraged to let others know that they will be sharing in the work of missions through their prayers and financial support. Each Team member is responsible for the participant cost, which includes transportation to field of service and return (to home city), visa, room and board, training, ministry expenses, local transportation, excursion, and materials. Team members are encouraged to raise the additional funds to cover the cost of domestic travel, to orientation, which is not included in the participant cost. | |
