I
n 1946, the Orthodox Church of Uganda was received into canonical Orthodoxy with approximately 10,000 baptized members. Today there are over 200,000 Orthodox Christian believers, at least 71 communities and 30 priests and deacons. There are two minor seminaries and 23 schools. There is one Orthodox hospital and 6 medical centers. Ugandans are still recovering from twenty years of civil war, famine, dictatorial rule and tribal killings.

Even though the country suffered greatly, the Orthodox Church of Uganda has continued to grow. To encourage and support this growth, OCMC has sent Missionaries, Mission Teams, and Support A Mission Priest (SAMP) and Agape funding.
