2014 Moldova Teaching Team

Traveling From: 4/28/2014 to 5/6/2014; Team Cost: $1010*

Teaching – Orhei

Clergy wives and women lay leaders are encouraged to apply to this Team that will plan and lead a number of retreats for women’s groups in Moldova. Large group presentations, small discussion groups and reflection time will round out the retreat with topics such as the role of clergy wives and the role of women in our Church.

This 2014 Team will travel to Chisinau and Orhei to offer 3 women’s retreats with the objective of increasing solidarity and unity among women. Plan and present topics relevant to women leaders and clergy wives in a relaxed format. The main focus of these seminars will be on spiritual renewal, the missionary nature of our Church, and setting aside time to discuss the challenges that a rapidly changing society places on our spiritual life. There will also be time for fellowship and the exchange of ideas.

During the last fifty years of Moldovan history, the role of a vibrant Church in the lives of Her people has been negatively influenced by Communist propaganda that has weakened the spiritual foundations of the Church and Her people. Moldovan women face social pressure that an increasingly westernized society places on them, and they seek a better understanding of how Orthodox women from around the world find a place within their parishes to serve the Church and grow spiritually.

In addition to a time of spiritual growth and learning, this team will incorporate a time for renewal, refreshment and an opportunity for women to connect and share.

Orthodox Moldovan women are looking to Orthodox women from North America to learn about women’s ministries in our parishes and how clergy wives support the ministries of the Church.

Women and clergy wives who are active members of parish life are needed.

Share your Orthodox faith with women from Moldova.

Prayer for Missions

God of truth and love: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Hear our prayer for those who do not know You. That they may come to a saving knowledge of the truth, and that Your Name may be praised among all peoples of the world. Sustain, inspire, and enlighten Your servants who bring them the Gospel. Bring fresh vigor to wavering faith; sustain our faith when it is still fragile. Continually renew missionary zeal in ourselves and in the Church, and raise up new missionaries who will follow You to the ends of the world. Make us witnesses to Your goodness full of love, full of strength, and full of faith for Your glory and the salvation of the entire world. Through the prayers of all the missionary saints, Have mercy on us and save us. Amen.
