Teaching – Mwanza
Further educate and encourage the clergy of Tanzania as you participate in seminars for Tanzania clergy from the Metropolis of Mwanza. Since 2004, OCMC has offered various teaching teams to this mission metropolis. This Team will focus on the clergy and offer seminars focused on continuing clergy education and stewardship.
The 2014 Tanzania Mission Team will offer the clergy an opportunity for continuing education, through seminars that will be offered to clergy from throughout the Metropolis. In addition, the Team will celebrate the daily liturgical life of the Tanzanian Church; have time for fellowship and evening discussions. Experience the vision and growth of the Church, share the life-saving message of salvation and learn about Orthodoxy in Tanzania.
Tanzania is a country with over 45 million people, where Islam and animism constitute the religion of half the population. Orthodoxy came to Tanzania in the 1960's, and in 1983 the first Orthodox Tanzanian priest was ordained. As Orthodoxy continues to spread throughout East Africa, the Metropolis of Mwanza in Tanzania shines as one of the fastest growing and most developed, despite the financial hardships and poverty. Under the pastoral leadership of His Eminence Metropolitan Jeronymos, this mission diocese consists of more than 40,000 faithful and over 160 parishes, with 48 priests.
Participants should be grounded in the teachings of the Church and have the ability to teach the Orthodox Faith. Orthodox Clergy or seminary professors have been requested for this team.
Experience the zeal and excitement of the Church which is growing with great intensity and fervor in Tanzania.
