Evangelism – Ulaanbaatar
Share the Gospel and help plant the seeds of Christianity in Mongolia by teaching and evangelizing those who have begun to respond to the Good News of Christ. In this country with less than 2% Christians, help the Church in Mongolia attract new members, organize university outreach and offer basic catechism.
The 2013 Mongolia Orthodox Mission Team has been invited by Fr. Aleksie Trubach to engage in a University outreach that will proclaim the Gospel and share the Orthodox Faith with Mongolian youth. Orthodox evangelism and a continued deepening commitment to Christ will be the focus of this outreach. Work alongside Mongolian young adults and OCMC long term missionaries to offer this outreach and share your faith. The Team will be based in the capital, Ulaanbaatar and be hosted by the Holy Trinity Parish (founded in 1998), the only Orthodox Church in the country.
The National University of Mongolia in Ulaanbaatar is the nation’s oldest university. During the socialist era, a University education was paid for and controlled by the state. After decades of Communism that attempted to create an atheist nation, the youth are looking to the West for guidance in filling the spiritual void that exists without Christ. In the last twenty years of political change, a gradual transformation has occurred. Presently 12,000 students are enrolled in 80 undergraduate and graduate programs.
Mongolia’s vastness and need for evangelism, makes this a strategically important area to proclaim the Gospel and assist the Church in providing a witness to bring people to Christ. Fr. Aleksie has served the community and has focused increasingly on bringing non-Christians to the Faith and the translation of liturgical material. As the transformation and joy of knowing Christ is proclaimed, experience the joy of offering spiritual nourishment in a country that is over 98% non-Christian.
Team members have the opportunity to experience the rich cultural diversity of Mongolia. Participants should be well-grounded in the teachings of the Church and have the ability to share and teach the Orthodox Faith. Those with experience and gifts for campus ministry are encouraged to apply.
Be a witness to the Gospel of Christ in Mongolia.
