Mr. John C Hrapchak
John was born in Central City, Pennsylvania to first generation Slovak-American parents Charles and Anna (Smolen) Hrapchak He grew up in Sts. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church of the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese. After graduation from high school, he attended Virginia Tech where he studied architecture and engineering and participated in the Virginia tech Corps of Cadets (VTCC) and the Air Force Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC). After obtaining a BS degree in Architectural Engineering, he fulfilled a four year Air Force commitment at Williams Air Force Base in Arizona. After completing his military service in 1972, John joined Daniel International Corporation, a major engineering and construction firm in Greenville, SC. In 1984 he accepted a position with the US Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District where he was employed until retiring in December 2014.
John and his wife wife Sheila (Kraynok) were married on September 18, 1982 in St John the Baptist Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church, Sharon, Pennsylvania. After beginning their marriage in Columbia, Missouri, they relocated to Columbia, MD where they were members of Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church in Potomac, Maryland. John is an Archon and Member of the Order of Saint Andrew the Apostle. He was installed at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in New York on February 28, 1999. John was elected to the OCMC Board in December 2009 and currently serves as the Co-Chairman of the Governance Committee. Though John and Sheila now reside in Surprise, Arizona, they remain members of Holy Resurrection Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church in Potomac. Maryland in addition to attending St Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church in Peoria, Arizona.
